Managing Food Waste At City Composting Site
City of San Diego’s Greenery — a large-scale windrow composting facility — is processing increasing volumes of source separated food waste and soiled paper. Compost recipes, equipment demonstrations.

Processing Green Waste Into High Value Compost Products
Tour of Agri Service Inc.’s El Corazon composting facility in Oceanside, which processes yard trimmings and other organics into compost and topsoil blends, vermicompost and a variety of mulches. Site visit will focus on the compost and mulch products, including a trial comparing compost blanket to hydromulch for sediment and erosion control. Agri Service also has begun production of compost teas.

Small-Scale Community Composting Model
The Pala Band of Mission Indians operates a yard trimmings composting facility at its transfer station. Tour will focus on equipment and tools to start up tribal and rural community composting operations to process yard trimmings and brush, food waste and other organic waste streams into compost products for use in community gardens and horticulture enterprises.
