Publication Policies and Guidelines

The purpose of Compost Science & Utilization is to provide a multidisciplinary forum to communicate the findings of researchers in agricultural engineering, biomass utilization, civil engineering, crops and soils, economics, environmental science, finance, forestry, horticultural science, microbiology, plant pathology, public health, soil and water conservation, solid waste management and wastewater treatment.

A major editorial objective is to increase interaction between researchers and compost practitioners. Journal topics focus on management techniques to improve compost process control and product quality, with special emphasis on the utilization of composted materials.

Compost Science & Utilization is a peer-reviewed journal. Additionally it includes evaluations of operations and process control methods at composting facilities.

When submitting manuscripts for publication, please follow these instructions:

1) E-mail manuscript in Microsoft® Word© to the attention of Celeste Madtes, Production Coordinator.

2) Manuscripts must be submitted in English, with acceptable English grammar. (Click here for sample article in pdf format)

3) All figures must be submitted in black/white. Size similarly oriented figures (eg. horizontal, vertical) consistently to enable uniformity for page design purposes.

4) Authors are requested to prepare an abstract and an introduction, with references listed at the end of the manuscript. DELETE:Authors of accepted papers will be asked to furnish originals of graphs, figures, etc.

For accepted papers, the corresponding author will be responsible for a publication fee of $50 per formatted/designed page of text, tables/figures. An invoice along with a PDF of the paper (for proofreading) will be sent by e-mail to the corresponding author. Payment of the format/design fee is due upon acceptance of the proof copy of paper, which is sent about three weeks prior to publication date of the issue. Payment of publication fee is accepted by Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or by check payable to The JG Press, Inc., drawn on U.S. bank.
