LANDFILL BIOGAS TO ELECTRICITY
Waste Managements Elk River Landfill, Elk River, Minnesota
Largest active landfill in Minnesota recovers 1,500 cfm of methane to power four gas reciprocating engines; Overview of methane recovery, electricity production to power 2,500 homes. Tour of wood recycling facility located at the landfill.
SOUTH METRO RESOURCE RECOVERY FACILITY
Shakopee, Minnesota
Demonstration project uses thermal processing technology to generate RDF fuel. Municipal solid waste is processed using steam and pressure in a thermal vessel to separate out recyclables and plastics from the organic fraction of the waste stream. Tour of installation and review of performance.
